The goal of this course is to enable developers to effectively build scalable, distributed applications that use Microsoft .NET Enterprise Services and the .NET Framework.

The course will cover Windows Forms, GDI+, simple data access, interoperating with unmanaged code, threading and asynchronous programming issues, simple remoting, Web access, XML Web services consumption, debugging, security, and deployment issues for desktop applications.

After completing this module, students will be able to: Use Microsoft Message Queuing to build scalable applications. Diagnose and tune applications by using event logs, performance counters, tracing, and Windows Services. Describe the following testing tools: Visual Studio Analyzer and Application Center Test.

This course provides you with the knowledge and skills needed to develop applications in Microsoft VB.NET for the .NET platform. We focus on user interfaces, program structure, language syntax, and implementation details. This is the first course in the VB.NET series and serves as the entry point for other .NET courses.
